King Mohammed VI of Morocco has opened the first session of the first legislative year of the 12th Legislature.

The King was joined by his son, Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, his brother, Prince Moulay Rachid, and his nephew, Prince Moulay Ahmed.

During his speech to Parliament, he looked back at the message he delivered to them in 2014, “As a Moroccan, nothing else is more valuable to me than the sense of belonging to this nation.”

He added, “That sentiment remains with me today. It is becoming stronger and more deeply rooted with the passing years.” He spoke about Morocco’s identity, history and recent developments.

He said, “I take pride in the political and diplomatic accomplishments we have made, as well as in our developmental, economic, and social achievements, which have transformed Morocco. Pride in one’s homeland, in this case, is not about boasting or self-satisfaction; rather, it is the driving force that turns the sense of belonging into responsibility, and confidence into a national duty.”
