King Mohammed chaired a signing ceremony in Casablanca last week.
Last Friday, 13th February, King Mohammed VI of Morocco chaired a presentation ceremony at the Royal Palace in Casablanca, launching a new 26,000m² (~seven hectares) manufacturing facility of Safran Landing Systems.
The subsidiary of French-based aerospace group Safran is the world’s leading manufacturer of aircraft landing and braking systems. Notably, the company produces gear for both Airbus and Boeing, formerly Messier-Bugatti-Dowty. The manufacturer was formally established through the merger of the Safran subsidiaries: Messier-Dowty, Messier-Bugatti, and Messier Services.
Last week, the King was accompanied by Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan at the Royal Palace for the historic signing ceremony. The facility for landing-gear equipment specialised for the Airbus A320 will be built within the Nouaceur municipality, which is renowned for its industry and for the country’s busiest airport—Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport (CMN).
The King and the Crown Prince watched a film at the start of the ceremony, which showcased industrial development under King Mohammed VI.
The project represents an investment of over EUR 280 million. The facility is expected to begin production in 2029, adding around 500 skilled jobs. The CEO of Safran said, “This decision once again highlights the strong relationship of trust and the strategic role the Kingdom plays in Safran’s global industrial footprint.”
King Mohammed VI then presided over the signing of the memorandum of understanding for the project.
