King Abdullah II of Jordan met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. Crown Prince Hussein also attended the meeting.
The meeting covered the overall situation in the Palestinian territories. King Abdullah said that the region will not become stable unless Palestinians are granted full rights and an independent Palestinian state is established. They also discussed Jordan’s rejection of Israeli measures.
King Abdullah stressed the need to step up international efforts and confirmed that Jordan will continue to safeguard the holy sites in Jerusalem. He also emphasised the need to ensure relief aid reaches all areas of Gaza.

President Abbas praised the efforts of Jordan under the leadership of King Abdullah in rallying international support for the Palestinian cause.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, General Intelligence Department Director Maj. Gen. Ahmad Husni, and Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh were also in attendance.
On the Palestinian side, Deputy Chairman of the Palestine Liberation Organisation and Vice-President Hussein Sheikh, Head of the Palestinian General Intelligence Service Maj. Gen. Majed Faraj, Diplomatic Advisor to President Mahmoud Abbas Majdi Khaldi, and Palestine’s Ambassador to Jordan Attalla Khairi were in attendance.
