The King and Queen have three children: Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Madeleine.

Victoria Ingrid Alice Désirée was born as the eldest child of the King and Queen on 14 July 1977 at Karolinska University Hospital. At the time of her birth, she held only the title of princess, but by January 1980, a new law had made her the heir to the throne.

She has been prepared for her future role from a young age. She interned at Swedish embassies and learned at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs’ Diplomat Program. Victoria also began military training in 2024. The Crown Princess also regularly undertakes official visits to foreign countries on behalf of the Crown.

Crown Princess Victoria married Daniel Westling on 19 June 2010 – the 34th wedding anniversary of her parents. They have two children, Princess Estelle (b. 2012) and Prince Oscar (b. 2016). The family lives at Haga Palace.

Carl Philip Edmund Bertil was born on 13 May 1979 at Stockholm Palace. At the time of his birth, his title was Crown Prince Carl Philip, but that would not last for long. By January 1980, a new succession law took effect in Sweden. From that point forward, the eldest child, regardless of gender, would be first in line to the throne. The law was retroactive, meaning the title was taken from Carl Philip and given to Victoria – the eldest born. At that point, his title changed to Prince Carl Philip, and the King objected to the retroactive law. He did not like that the title was stripped from his son after it was given to him at birth.

The Prince, who also holds the title of Duke of Värmland, served in the Swedish Armed Forces and greatly enjoys racing in his spare time. He co-founded Bernadotte & Kylberg with Oscar Kylberg in 2012, a company focused on product design.

He married Sofia Hellqvist, a former glamour model, in 2015. They have four children: Prince Alexander (b. 2016), Prince Gabriel (b. 2017), Prince Julian (b. 2021), and Princess Ines (b. 2025). The family lives at Villa Solbacken.

Madeleine Thérèse Amelie Josephine was born on 10 June 1982 at Drottningholm Palace. The Princess also holds the title of Duchess of Hälsingland and Gästrikland. The more private princess undertakes some engagements on behalf of the Crown, but she also runs her own beauty brand, MinLen.

Princess Madeleine is dedicated to ending child exploitation and works closely with her mother’s charity, the World Childhood Foundation, where she is a board member and Deputy Honorary Chair.

The Princess married American-British Chris O’Neill in 2013, and together, they have three children, Princess Leonore (b. 2014), Prince Nicolas (b. 2015) and Princess Adrienne (b. 2018). The family only recently moved back to Sweden after spending many years abroad, primarily in the United States.
