Swedish royals saddened by Holocaust survivor death

King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden has reacted with sadness to the death of Hédi Fried, Holocaust survivor and author.

The Swedish Royal Family released the following statement: “My family and I have received with sadness the news of the passing of Hédi Fried. Hédi Fried was one of our country’s most important public figures. She taught generations of Swedes about the evils of the Holocaust and the inviolability of human value. We appreciated her kindness and wisdom on the occasions when our family had the privilege of meeting her. We remember Hédi Fried and her actions with gratitude and respect.”
