Queen Sonja of Norway has been admitted to the hospital for shortness of breath.

The Norwegian consort, 87, was flown to Oslo’s National Hospital in an air ambulance on the evening of 21 April. She was admitted for examinations.

Queen Sonja and King Harald were at the Prince’s Cabin (or Royal Mountain Chalet) in Sikkilsdalen, celebrating Easter.

The Royal Court said in a short statement: “Her Majesty the Queen was admitted to the National Hospital this evening for examinations due to shortness of breath.

“The Queen was transported by air ambulance from the Prince’s Cabin in Sikkilsdalen, where the Royal Couple spent the Easter holiday.”

Her Majesty had a pacemaker inserted in January 2025 to correct an irregular heartbeat.
