Queen Sofia of Spain has been presented with an honorary doctorate.
The Queen was given an honorary degree by the CEU San Pablo University.
Queen Sofia was honoured “in recognition of her significant contribution to the promotion of culture and the arts, for her extraordinary commitment in the field of social and welfare activities, as well as for a lifetime of exemplary dedication and commitment to Spain and the Spanish people.”
During the ceremony, the degrees were presented; the Queen was also given a medal, laurelled cap, book of science, ring, and white gloves. She then took a formal oath before thanking those assembled.

Afterwards, Queen Sofia saw a brief performance by the CEU San Pablo University choir and chatted with guests.
Queen Sofia has honorary doctorates from the Universities of Rosario (Bogotá), Valladolid, Cambridge, Oxford, Georgetown, Évora, New York and Seisen (Tokyo).
