Queen Silvia of Sweden was joined by her grandchildren at the Royal Palace to receive this year’s Christmas trees.

The proud grandmother was surrounded by Princesses Estelle, Leonore, Adrienne, Princes Nicolas, Oscar, Alexander, Gabriel and Julian.

Queen Silvia and her grandchildren met students from the Swedish University of Agriculture (SLU) in Umeå, as is tradition, to receive this year’s trees.

The royals took a group photo with the students in the Eastern Palace Vault as part of the event.

Students from SLU have gifted Christmas trees to the Royal Family since 1961 and each year a different member of the Royal Family has the honour of welcoming them to the Royal Palace.

The trees are Royal Fir – formerly known as Norwegian spruces.
