Queen Máxima receives beret

Queen Máxima of the Netherlands has received her beret for the reservist training.

This means that the first part of her military training is now complete. When she completes the program, Private Máxima will be promoted to Lieutenant Colonel.

She has been assigned to the King’s Military Household. However, she is not assigned to a specific branch, regiment or corps. As such, she wears the emblem of the General Staff on her beret, a lion on a ponceau red background.

Being a reservist is voluntary, but it does come with obligations. She will have to participate in training and exercises. She will also contribute to the operation during periods of heightened readiness.

Queen Máxima was joined by her husband, King Willem-Alexander, her eldest daughter, the Princess of Orange, and her youngest daughter, Princess Ariane, after receiving her beret.
