Queen Margrethe of Denmark has been nominated for Danish film awards, just days before she abdicates the throne in favour of her son, Frederik.

Her Majesty has been nominated for the Robert Award, which is presented annually by the Danish Film Academy (similar to the Oscars in the United States).

She has the possibility to win two awards – Set Designer of the Year and Costume Designer of the Year.

The Queen, who is renowned for her artistic and design abilities, is nominated due to her contribution to the Netflix film Ehrengard – The Art of Seduction.

Queen Margrethe designed costumes for the film, including ones for Sidse Babett Knudsen who portrayed the Grand Duchess. She was also involved in making decoupages (coloured paper cutouts covering walls and furniture) for the film.

Around 3,000 members of the Danish Film Academy cast their votes, and the winners will be announced on 3 February.
