Queen Letizia of Spain has visited the Civil Guard Officers’ Academy (AOGC) in Aranjuez.
The AOGC’s headquarters is celebrating the tenth anniversary of its inauguration.
Upon arrival, the Queen was greeted by the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska; the Government Delegate in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín; the Director General of the Civil Guard, Mercedes González; the Chief of the Civil Guard Personnel Command, Lieutenant General Eduardo Martínez Viqueira; and the Director of the Civil Guard Officers’ Academy, Colonel Jorge Montero. In the main hall, she was greeted by the director of the University Centre of the Civil Guard, Lieutenant General Félix Blázquez; the head of Teaching of the Civil Guard, Brigadier General Manuel López; and various officials of the Academy.

Queen Letizia learned more about the academy’s training activity by watching a simulation of a crisis scenario following a terrorist attack in a shopping centre. She also watched an exercise on Public Road Operations and police self-defence skills.
Afterwards, she met with professors and students. In the Book of Honour, she wrote, “It is heartening to see how all the students form a youth committed to serving society and are exposed at this academy to the highest standards of specialised instruction, never forgetting the values of the Civil Guard: honour, loyalty, selflessness, discipline, volunteerism, and camaraderie.”
