Edwin de Roy van Zuydewijn, the ex-husband of Princess Margarita of Bourbon-Parma, has filed a lawsuit against RTL and Videoland.
He has applied to see the scripts for the spin-off series Mabel & Margarita, but his request has been denied.
The court at Lelystad considered his lawsuit yesterday. Edwin de Roy van Zuydewijn wants to see the scripts to see if he is “dragged through the mud.” He wants to prevent this “before the damage has been done.” He did not personally appear in court, but was represented by a lawyer.
He previously said he did not have any faith in the way Videoland handles the facts, as seen, according to him, in the series Máxima, which will soon have a third season. He said, “A brief look at what this producer previously presented to a millions-strong audience in his television series as accurate and the truth underscores the deceptive tendency that is discernible.”
The spin-off series will show the life of Mabel Wisse Smit, later Princess Mabel, as the wife of Prince Friso, King Willem-Alexander’s younger brother, and Princess Margarita, the daughter of Princess Irene, who is a sister of Princess Beatrix, from about 1999 onward. It is being produced by Millstreet and Videoland.
Princess Margarita was married to Edwin de Roy van Zuydewijn from 2001 to 2006.
The judge will deliver the verdict on May 13.
