Princess Amalia of the Netherlands spent time in Amsterdam on 10 September to hear from residents and learn about the city.
The Princess of Orange, as she is known as the heir to the Dutch throne, was invited by the mayor, Femke Halsema, to learn more about the city and speak to the residents.
Princess Amalia had lunch at the mayor’s official residence and spoke to those who live there about their “vibrant” city. Those in attendance included legislators, business representatives, the cultural and social sector and sports organisations.
Halsema complimented the Princess and called her a “great asset” to the city.
As the future Queen of the Netherlands, Amalia said that she found the time in Amsterdam “wonderful.”
Speaking to the press after lunch, she said: “I knew the city in a completely different way, but it’s wonderful to get to know it this way.”
The Princess of Orange attended university in Amsterdam, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Politics, Psychology, Law and Economics earlier this year. For the next two academic years, the royal will study for a bachelor’s degree in Dutch law at the Defensity College at the University of Amsterdam.
