Queen Mathilde receives honorary doctorate

Queen Mathilde will receive an honorary doctorate from Hasselt University.

In 1973, “The Limburgs University Center” (LUC), the predecessor of Hasselt University or UHasselt in short, was officially opened. Queen Mathilde was born in the same year, so they celebrate their anniversary together.

She will be awarded her honorary doctorate on 30 May. The rector explains, “During the corona pandemic, she was in close contact with our university. And in parallel with this, she is always committed to the underprivileged and child poverty and wants young people to have every opportunity to grow. And we, as a university, find that very important. important.”
