The Danish Royal House has revealed behind-the-scenes photos of Queen Margrethe’s 85th birthday celebrations.

Dozens of images were released from the private birthday celebrations with friends and family in the Dome Hall at Fredensborg Palace.

The dinner table was decorated with painted eggs that Her Majesty had painted over the years.

The evening also included a surprise when the St. Anne Girls’ Choir sang for the guests, who included King Frederik, Princess Benedikte, and Queen Anne-Marie of Greece.

The Pantomime Theatre later performed excerpts from the ballet Clumsy Hansel with costumes the Queen designed.

Earlier in the day, the Queen was joined by members of the Royal Family for the noon Changing of the Guard and a short concert at Fredensborg Palace.

A full selection of the photos can be found on the Royal Family’s website.
