Prince Christian of Denmark has made his solemn declaration of his intention to abide by the Constitution. This means that he will now be able to serve as regent in the event that both his grandmother and his father are prevented from doing so.
It is the first time in over 100 years that both the Crown Prince and the Crown Prince’s heir are of an age to act as regent. This last happened in 1902.
At the meeting of the Council of State at Christiansborg Palace, Prince Christian officially signed the so-called solemn declaration on abiding by the Constitution.
