After the meeting, he met up with Prince Albert and visited the Oceanographic Museum. During the visit, Prince Albert highlighted Monaco’s commitment to preserving the oceans and its cooperation with Italy through RAMOGE, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and is currently led by Italy. The RAMOGE Agreement is an “intergovernmental cooperation agreement between France, Italy and Monaco for the preservation of the marine environment.” It was created on the initiative of Prince Rainier III in 1976.

Prince Albert II said, “This historical, protective, rich and fruitful relationship is simply a friendship. A faithful and unbreakable friendship, which we had been able to experience together on several occasions in the past. A friendship that your presence has once again strengthened.”
The Italian President said, “I am delighted to have made this state visit nearly sixty years after the historic visit of Prince Rainier III and Princess Grace to Rome. During these two days, we confirmed what we already knew, but we were able to perceive more intensely the depth of the bonds that unite the Principality of Monaco and Italy; and that unite our peoples, also linked by a long history of contacts and proximity, not only geographical, but also cultural and human.”
