The maternal grandfather of Prince Albert of Monaco was honoured at the Paris Olympic Games.

‘World Rowing’ honoured John B. Kelly Jr. who won his third gold medal in rowing one hundred years ago for the United States at the 1924 Paris Games.

Prince Albert attended the World Rowing reception alongside International Olympic Committee President, Thomas Bach, and the President of World Rowing, Christophe Rolland.

Bach said that the event didn’t just honour John Kelly but the Olympic family. Prince Albert also competed in the Olympic Games from 1988 to 2002 for Monaco.

Prince Albert was seen a few days prior with his American maternal family watching some of the events of the Olympic Games.  He also presented the gold medal in rowing to the Netherlands.

John Kelly was the maternal grandfather of Prince Albert and the father of former American actress, Princess Grace (known more commonly as Grace Kelly).
