Prince Albert II celebrates 20 years on the throne

Albert II, Prince of Monaco celebrated the 20th anniversary of his accession to the throne this weekend.

Prince Albert was accompanied by his wife, Princess Charlene and their twins, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella.

Other members of the Princely Family and extended family members were also present, such as Princess Caroline, Stefano Casiraghi, Princess Alexandra, Francesco Casiraghi, Beatrice Borromeo, Charlotte Casiraghi, Balthazar Casiraghi-Rassam, Tatiana Santo Domingo, Maximilian Casiraghi, Louis Ducruet, Marie Ducruet, Princess Stephanie, Pauline Ducruet, Camille Gottlieb and Gareth Wittstock.

The family gathered in the Palace Square for the celebrations. They greeted the Monegasque people, and Prince Albert held a speech. Addressing his people he said, “Everything I do, from the quiet of my office to faraway seas, I do for you.” He added, “Let’s harness the energy, dreams, and hopes we still carry, to keep building the Monaco we believe in — together.”

A documentary was shown, displaying the highlights of the last twenty years.

Although Prince Albert officially succeeded his father upon his death on 6 April 2005, the mourning period ended in July.
