The Royal Court of Norway announced that King Harald’s health deteriorated over the weekend, and Norwegian politicians have released messages of support to the King.
On Sunday, the Royal Court announced, “His Majesty the King’s health deteriorated over the weekend. The King is receiving antibiotics for a bacterial infection in his blood, and has responded to this treatment.’
They added that his condition is stable and that he will remain on sick leave until further notice.
Since the announcement, Norwegian politicians have expressed their support for the King and their hope for a recovery.
Norway’s Prime Minister, Jonas Gahr Støre, said, “All of Norway is keeping watch over the king, who is hospitalised, and thinking of him. My strong wish is that he continues to receive good treatment from the good healthcare system we have.”
The President of the Norwegian Parliament, Masud Gharahkhani, also remarked, “We are all thinking of His Majesty and the entire royal family at this time. I send our beloved and hardworking King warm thoughts and best wishes. We greatly appreciate everything he does for our country.”
Queen Sonja, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit have all been spotted visiting His Majesty at the National Hospital in Oslo, where he has been since 17 August.
