Marius Borg Høiby, who is the son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway from a previous relationship, is suspected of three rapes and 23 other offences, according to the police.
Marius Borg Høiby was arrested on three separate occasions last year, in August, September and November.
After a police investigation lasting ten months, the Norwegian police have now handed the case over to the prosecutors. They will now decide whether to press charges.
Høiby’s lawyer, Petar Sekulic, said his client was “taking the accusations very seriously, but doesn’t acknowledge any wrongdoing in most of the cases, especially the cases regarding sexual abuse and violence.”
He has been under investigation since his first arrest in August on suspicion of assault. The 28-year-old does not have a royal title or any official duties.
Oslo Police District said they carried out a “thorough investigation”, with a “large number of witness interviews, several searches and a review of extensive digital material,” and Høiby was questioned several times over the last few months.
“I cannot go into further detail about the number of victims in the case beyond confirming that it is a double-digit number,” police attorney Andreas Kruszewski said.
