King Willem-Alexander celebrates King’s Day in Emmen

King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands celebrated his birthday with the traditional King’s Day celebrations in the city of Emmen.

The King and his extended family walked through the city and shook plenty of hands along the way. They took part in games and a quiz, the latter was won by Queen Máxima’s team.

At the end of the celebrations, the King said, “Emmen is a very strong city where you would like to live, where everything happens. And I understand that when something is very amazing, you say: it could be less. I am telling you this King’s Day: it could be a lot less.”

He added, “To be able to celebrate your birthday with your family is the very best experience.”
