King Harald V of Norway has returned to duties following a hospital stay earlier this month.
On Thursday, 12th March, King Harald V, 89, was pictured receiving new ambassadors to the Kingdom of Norway at the Royal Palace in Oslo.
The King received, in respective audiences, the ambassadors of Montenegro, the Principality of Andorra, and the Republic of Congo.
It was the first time that the King had returned to public-facing engagements following his recent hospitalisation in the Canary Islands. King Harald and Queen Sonja had been staying on the island of Tenerife when he became ill with an infection and dehydration, requiring hospitalisation.
The King’s physician immediately flew to Tenerife to assist the local medical team. After arriving the next day, Dr Bjørn Bendz stated at the time, in part, saying,
When individuals of nearly 90 years of age are admitted with an infection, it is a serious matter. It is important that we obtain a clear overview and full control of the health situation before The King is discharged – even though his condition is currently stable.
After a two-day stay in the private Hospital Universitario Hospiten Sur, the King was discharged and remained in the Canary Islands on a private holiday.
