The late King Harald will be honoured as a Seraphim knight on the day of his funeral.
King Harald, as Crown Prince, was made a knight of the Order of Seraphim by the Swedish King Gustaf VI Adolf on 10 April 1958. He was awarded the Chain of the Order of the Seraphim by King Carl XVI Gustaf on 5 May 1992. He was the 734th knight of the order since its founding in 1748.
King Harald wears the collar of the Order of the Seraphim during the wedding of Crown Princess Victoria and Daniel Westling.
The late king will be honoured with a Seraphim Ringing Ceremony at Riddarholm Church in Stockholm. His Seraphim Shield will be carried in procession by the Grenadiers from the Royal Palace’s vault to Riddarholm Church at 11.55. Inside the church, the shield is placed in the choir, and the Vice Chancellor of the Royal Order of the Seraphim officially announces the death of the Seraphim Knight.
In accordance with Section 26 of the statutes of the royal orders of knighthood, the bell of Riddarholm Church will ring from noon to 1:00 p.m. for the deceased knight.
The church will be open to the public and media during the Seraphim Ringing.
