King Harald V of Norway attended the presentation of the King Olav V Cancer Research Prize.

The recipients of the 2025 and 2026 prizes were honoured during the ceremony. Guests were welcomed by the Norwegian Cancer Society’s Secretary General, Ingrid Stenstadvold Ross, before several speeches and musical entertainment.

Øyvind Eriksen, the chairman of the board, explained how the prizes were awarded as the recipients were invited on stage.

The 2026 recipient is Professor Johanna Olweus, who was awarded the King Olav V Cancer Research Prize 2026 for her groundbreaking work with T-cell-based immunotherapy.

The 2025 recipient is Professor Karl-Johan Malmberg, who was awarded the prize for his work in cell therapy. 

The King Olav V Cancer Research Prize has been awarded every year since 1992. It is worth 1 million kroner.
