King Harald and Queen Sonja welcome Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan

King Harald and Queen Sonja of Norway have welcomed Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan for a state visit.

The King and Queen officially welcomed the president at the Royal Palace. The visit will mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Norway and Tanzania. The last state visit from Tanzania was in 1976.

Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit were also on hand to greet the president.

After the welcome, the president paid tribute to Norwegians who lost their lives in the Second World War by placing a wreath at the national monument at Akershus Fortress. After the ceremony, the president travelled to the Storting, the Norwegian parliament, where she met with the First Vice President, Mr Svein Harberg.

In the afternoon, the president and Crown Prince Haakon attended the Norwegian–Tanzanian Business Forum at Næringslivets Hus in Oslo.

In the evening, a gala dinner was held.
