King Harald and Queen Sonja of Norway have visited the flood-affected areas of eastern Norway.

The couple began their visit in Mjøndalen, where they met with the locals and the people working to repair the damage caused by the floods. They also met with representatives of the Norwegian Directorate of Water Resources and Energy.

The King said, “I would like to thank the efforts of all those who have been involved because it is no small task that has been carried out, both by official authorities and by voluntary organizations and voluntary individuals. So thank you all very much.”

The Queen added, “Many places in the world have major disasters, but not this preparedness. We should be grateful to all those who come together to make this happen.”

Around 4,000 people have been evacuated from the affected areas after two dams collapsed. Crown Prince Haakon will also be visiting affected areas in the near future.
