King Frederik X of Denmark has written the foreword to the book “Ansgar’s Life – The First Story of the Apostle of the North”.
The publication of the book coincides with the 1200th anniversary of the arrival of the monk and missionary Ansgar in Denmark in 826.
During the days of Pentecost, the anniversary will be marked with a meeting in Ribe, where Ansfar founded the first church in Denmark. King Frederik X is the patron of the Bible Society, which published the book.
A part of the foreword reads, “For those of us who are fascinated by Danish history, it is inspiring to get close to a person like Ansgar, who lived so many years ago and who has meant so much to Denmark. With his history in our hands, we have an obvious opportunity to think about and talk about what Christianity means to us today.”
