King Frederik has taken part in his first Royal Run as the monarch of Denmark.
Much to the enjoyment of the people, the Royal Family took them along for the day on social media.
The King said he was excited to be participating in this year’s Royal Run. A record of 95,000 people signed up to run in Brønderslev, Aarhus, Fredericia, Kalundborg and Copenhagen/Frederiksberg.
The King wrote on social media to the participants: “My family and I look forward to meeting you.”
King Frederik ran in Frederica, Aarhus and Copenhagen/Frederiksberg while Crown Prince Christian took part in the one-mile race in Brønderslev.
Queen Mary shared a photo with two of the family dogs ahead of her run in Kalundborg, saying the pups were sad they could not participate. However, by the end of the day, the Queen posted another photo of the dogs with the King, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, saying they were no longer disappointed since “the family is home.”
The King and Queen’s younger three children, Princess Isabella, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, ran in Copenhagen and shared a sibling portrait before taking off for the race.
Queen Margrethe, who abdicated earlier this year, cheered on her family from home with her dachshund.
Originally created to be a celebration for His M 50th birthday in 2018, it has since become an annual event in Denmark with people all over the country taking part in various races.
The King and the Royal Family participate each year with the Danish people.
