King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark visited Uluṟu on the first day of the Australian state visit.

The first day began in the Northern Territory at the Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park Cultural Centre, where they were officially welcomed to Australia by the First Nations Community. The royal couple received a tour of the centre, and were welcomed with a traditional dance called inma.

Afterwards, they went to the Kulata Academy Café to meet the students who run it as part of their schooling. The Kulata Academy Café is part of The National Indigenous Training Academy (NITA). This offered paid tourism internships for young indigenous people.

At the end of the day, the King and Queen visited a viewpoint to see the sunset over Uluṟu. The sandstone formation changes colour throughout the day and is approximately 348 metres tall.
