King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden has released a statement following a sword attack at a high school in Fagersta.
The King wrote, “It is with dismay and sadness that we have received the news that Sweden has once again been hit by a school attack. My thoughts go out to those most directly affected, their families and loved ones. I also want to express my understanding of the concern this causes for students, school staff, parents in Fagersta and our entire community.”
One person was killed and at least three others injured by an attacker armed with a sword at a high school in Sweden. The 18-year-old attacker was shot and arrested, according to police chief Tommy Alriksson. The two injured people were students aged 12 and 17, and they were taken to the hospital.
There was no immediate news about the attacker’s motive.
“We do not yet know what lies behind the act, but we know that the police are working very intensively,” Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said in a statement on X. “Our thoughts are with all those affected.”
