King Carl XVI Gustaf and Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden attended seminars arranged on the occasion of the King’s Golden Jubilee.

They were joined by Princess Christina, Mrs Magnuson, Academy of Witdom’s permanent secretary Karin Helander, president Peter Gillgren and superintendent Ann Follin. The Art Academy half-day seminar was about 500 years of royal architecture, including the care and restoration of Swedish castles and palaces.

After the seminar, the King held a speech of thanks in which he said, “When we here listen to and take part in your knowledge, we cannot help but feel secure that the knowledge lives on and that our cultural environments will be well taken care of in the future as well.”

The following day, they attended a seminar called “Gustaf VI Adolf and Archaeology.” The King again gave a speech of thanks, saying, “My grandfather often travelled to do excavations with young archaeology students. […]  What you have done today shows how his work and interest lives on and is also part of the research.”
