King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden visited two special elephants at the Kolmården Wildlife Park in Östergötland.
The King travelled to Kolmården Wildlife Park to visit the elephants Bua and Sanoi and speak to those who take care of them, including the park’s CEO, Jeanette Sandberg.
He also snapped photos of the animals on his cell phone.
Bua and Sanoi were a gift to His Majesty from Thailand’s King Rama IX (also known as King Bhumibol Adulyadej) in the early 2000s.
Bua was born in 1997 and weighs 3910 kg, while Sanoi was born in 1996 and weighs 3155 kg.
Since then, the elephants have lived in the zoo in Östergötland.
Photos of the unannounced visit were later shared on the Royal House’s social media channels.

This was not the first time King Carl Gustaf had visited the elephants at the zoo. The King has visited them several times over the years.
Kolmården Wildlife Park is the largest zoo in Scandinavia and has been open since 1965.
