Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg have welcomed the Singaporean President, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, for a state visit.
The President and his wife, Mrs. Jane Ittogi Shanmugaratnam, were welcomed last Thursday to celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations. They received the traditional welcoming ceremony in front of the Grand Ducal Palace. The couple then placed a wreath at the National Monument of Luxembourg Solidarity.

The two couple visited the Mudam Museum of Modern Art to view exhibitions, “Nets for Night and Day” by Lubaina Himid and Magda Stawarska, “Monsieur Steichen” by Lisa Oppenheim, as well as the retrospective “Ho Tzu Nyen: Time & the Tiger.”
In the evening, a gala dinner was hosted in honour of the Presidential Couple. Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie also joined them this evening.

On the second day of the visit, the couples met at the Hôtel Royal for discussions on sustainable and digital finance. Afterwards, they went to Betzdorf Castle to visit the headquarters of the satellite operator “Société Européenne des Satellites” (SES), where a memorandum of understanding was signed between “SES” and the aerospace company “SpeQtral.”

On the final engagement of the visit, they visited the National Fire and Rescue Centre (CNIS), where a memorandum of understanding was signed there to deepen cooperation between the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).
