Queen Mary of Denmark has spoken for the first time about her son, Crown Prince Christian, going on an extended stay in Africa.

The Queen waved her son goodbye as he set out on his three-month trip to Africa on 4 September and later attended the Carlsberg Foundation’s Research Awards 2024.

Queen Mary told Billed Bladet: “We are looking forward to all that he will experience and learn on his journey.

“At the same time, we will miss him immensely.”

Crown Prince Christian will work on two farms in East Africa until December. The Royal House will not release any additional information about the trip and has asked everyone to respect his privacy during this time.

The Crown Prince just returned from Paris where he cheered on the Danish Paralympic athletes ahead of his extended stay.
