Queen Mary shares sweet photo with father for her 52nd birthday

Queen Mary of Denmark has shared a personal family photo for her 52nd birthday.

The Queen released a photo taken with her father, John Donaldson, 82, when she was home in Australia visiting in December 2023.

Her younger son, Prince Vincent, took the image.

The Royal House said: “On this occasion, the Queen has chosen an image of a special moment with her father from her recent trip to Australia in December.”

John Donaldson could not make it to Denmark in October 2023 for his grandson, Crown Prince Christian’s 18th birthday celebrations due to his age and health. He was also unable to make the trip to Denmark for the abdication of Queen Margrethe when Mary became Queen consort.

It is a lovely family moment for the Queen and her father, taken just weeks before she took on her new role.
