Queen Margrethe of Denmark has been made an honorary member of Lund University in Sweden.
The Queen attended the Lund University Annual Party on 23 January, where she was appointed as an honorary member.
As part of the celebration, Her Majesty also visited Skissarnes Museum alongside the rector and professor at Lund University, Erik Renström. A passionate archaeologist, the Queen participated in three short lectures on archaeology and ancient history.
Later in the day, Queen Margrethe was bestowed the honour in University Hall and presented with a diploma and silver key in a lapel pin.
Her Majesty was appointed due to her lifelong dedication and interest in art and science.
Lund University has had honorary membership since 2022. It “is awarded to individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to public or private activities and who have been of great importance to Lund University,” according to the Danish Royal House.
