The King of Denmark received the Vatican Secretary of State on Monday.

In the Audiensgemakket of Frederik VIII’s Palace in Amalienborg, King Frederik X received the Vatican Secretary of State, His Eminence Cardinal Pietro Parolin, in audience this Monday, 26th January.

The Secretary of State was in the Kingdom of Denmark for the celebrations of the 1200th anniversary of the beginning of the mission of Saint Ansgar in Denmark. St. Ansgar was a missionary who brought Christianity to Scandinavia around the year 826.

Last November, His Holiness Pope Leo XIV appointed Cardinal Pietro Parolin as ‘Pontifical Legate’ for the services taking place in Copenhagen. A Pontifical Legate acts as an official representative of the Pope and the Holy See at certain events or during Diplomatic Missions.
