Queen Letizia of Spain and her daughter Infanta Sofia will fly to Australia to attend the final of the World Cup. The final will take place in Sydney.
Spain’s football team will take on England, but no one from the British royal family is expected to attend. Kensington Palace has stated that Prince William, who is the President of the Football Association, will be cheering on England’s team from home.
King Felipe has other engagements and will not be joining his wife and daughter. His elder daughter, Leonor, has just entered the military academy.
“What a phenomenal performance from the Lionesses – on to the final!” Prince William wrote following England’s semi-final victory against Australia.
King Charles wrote, “My wife and I join all our family in sending the mighty Lionesses our warmest congratulations on reaching the final of the World Cup and in sharing our very best wishes for Sunday’s match.”
