The Princess of Wales visited Home-Start Oxford for a training session and meeting with volunteers.

Her Royal Highness undertook the engagement to see how the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood’s animations will be used by Home-Start UK.

Catherine spoke to families and volunteers “about how everyday moments of love and connection between parents and their young children lay the foundation for lifelong social and emotional skills that equip us to deal with challenges later in life,” according to Kensington Palace.

The Princess joined a training session to view the films and discussed how they could utilise those strategies.

She later joined a ‘Stay and Play’ session with families and staff to see the impact of their interactions.

The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood Explainer Series is a network of 9,000 volunteers across all Home-Starts.

Home-Start UK is one of many organisations working with the Royal Foundation to use the film series to train on the science behind early social and emotional development.

Regarding Home-Start, the palace explained: “Home-Start is a national network of 175 local charities providing free, trusted, relational support for families in homes and communities across the UK.”

The Princess of Wales has made early childhood development a focal point of her work.
