King Charles has released a statement following the knife attack on a train, which left nine people with serious injuries.

His complete statement reads, “My wife and I were truly appalled and shocked to hear of the dreadful knife attack that took place on board a train in Cambridgeshire last night. Our deepest sympathy and thoughts are with all those affected and their loved ones. We are particularly grateful to the emergency services for their response to this awful incident.”

The attack took place on a train travelling from Doncaster to London on Saturday night. Ten people were taken to the hospital, of whom nine are thought to have serious injuries. The train stopped at Huntingdon, where armed police boarded the train. Two people have been arrested.

Chief Superintendent Chris Casey of the British Transport Police said, “We’re conducting urgent enquiries to establish what has happened, and it could take some time before we are in a position to confirm anything further. “At this early stage, it would not be appropriate to speculate on the causes of the incident.”
