At least 128 people have died according to Hong Kong authorities after the fire on Friday, 28 November. Seventy-nine people were injured, and dozens remain missing.

The fire department chief has said the fire alarms did not operate properly at the Wang Fuk Court complex in Hong Kong’s Tai Po district.

According to a 2021 census, around 4,600 people lived in the towers. Police have arrested eight people on suspicion of corruption in the renovation work at the building, and three others were detained on manslaughter charges.
