Duke of Edinburgh visits Turkey for The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award

The Duke of Edinburgh was in Turkey for the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award.

While in Turkey, the Duke met with young people taking part in the International Award program, which currently has over 8,000 participants across 34 provinces. He also attended a garden party which marked his visit and the 20th anniversary of the Duke of Edinburgh Award in Turkey.

He went on to visit Kabataş High School, the Basilica Cistern and the British Consulate in Istanbul for a reception.

He then went to Ankara, where he was welcomed by President Erdogan. He placed a wreath at Anitkabir, the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. He also attended a  reception to mark the 40th anniversary of the Chevening Scholarship program.
