The Duke of Edinburgh has travelled to New Zealand in his role of Global Patron of the International Award.

He was officially welcomed to Aotearoa during a Mihi Whakatau. He met with the participants of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Hillary Award, which is also celebrating its 60th anniversary. The participants undertook a series of activities while the Duke was there, such as high ropes.

The Duke later met 40 trainees on the Spirit of New Zealand. He completed his own Duke of Edinburgh Award on the Spirit of New Zealand’s sister ship, the Spirit of Adventure.
