Duke of Cornwall launches Princetown Community Fund

The Duke of Cornwall, as the Prince of Wales is also known, will launch the Princetown Community Fund.

The Prince will visit Princetown, Dartmoor, on 15 September to launch the new £250,000 fund. This fund will be available to support locally led projects which will deliver social, economic and environmental benefit to Princetown.

The Duchy of Cornwall is committed to investing more than £500m over the next ten years in local communities and economies for renewable energy, farming resilience and environmental recovery.

HMP Dartmoor, a men’s prison in Dartmoor, is leased by the Duchy of Cornwall, and Prince William has decided that the funds should not be retained by the Duchy but should be returned to the community. The new Princetown Community is one of the first to be delivered through this promise.

Grants ranging from £500 to £40,000 will be available.

Prince William will begin the day at Gather & Moor, a cultural hub in the centre of Princetown. It is a former visitor centre transformed into a multi-purpose space by the Duchy of Cornwall. The Prince will meet representatives from the local business, Princetown Press, to learn more about their craft.

The Prince will also meet residents and community leaders from Princetown. He will then visit the local Youth Club, which he has visited before during a previous visit. At the time, he saw the need for repairs to the Youth Club’s roof, and it has since received funding.
