A Buckingham Palace official has resigned after making “unacceptable comments”.

The employee has not been identified by Buckingham Palace, but various media write that it is Lady Susan Hussey, an employee of the King’s household and former lady-in-waiting to Queen Elizabeth II.

It is said that inappropriate and racist remarks were made to a guest during Queen Camilla’s reception.

Ngozi Fulani, CEO of Sistah Space, said during the reception, she was asked where she or “her people” are “really came from.”

A spokesman for Buckingham Palace said: “We take this incident extremely seriously and are immediately investigating to establish all details. In this case, unacceptable and very regrettable comments have been made. We have contacted Ngozi Fulani regarding this matter and invite her to personally discuss all elements of her experience if she wishes. In the meantime, the person concerned would like to deeply apologize for the pain caused and has resigned from her position with immediate effect. All household members are reminded of the diversity and inclusion policies they must uphold at all times.”
