While the King stripped all titles from his brother, Andrew, his two nieces, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie’s statuses remain the same.

The Princesses were born with their titles as grandchildren of the monarch in the male line, meaning they are princesses in their own right. This follows King George V’s Letters Patent of 1917.

His Majesty is not taking the titles and styles of his only titled nieces.

They will retain their titles of Princess Beatrice, Mrs Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi and Princess Eugenie, Mrs Jack Brooksbank.

They both ceased using their “of York” styles upon marriage.

Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie will still be welcome at family events, including Christmas at Sandringham.
