The Prince and Princess of Wales were in Birmingham to “celebrate the city’s diverse culture and heritage and meet future leaders in the creative industries.”
Their first visit was to the Indian Streatery restaurant, where Prince William took a phone reservation, much to everyone’s merriment. Their social media team later posted, “Hope we told this customer to come to the right place…!”

The restaurant is family-run, and all the chefs are female, including the head chef and owner, Meena. The Prince and Princess also met with students from University College of Birmingham who have trained there before trying their hand at making roti.
