King Philippe calls Emir

The King of the Belgians called the Emir of Qatar on Thursday.

King Philippe of the Belgians held a telephone conversation with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, on Thursday. The conversation focused on the importance of deescalation in the face of regional unrest amidst Iranian bombardment.

The King also reaffirmed Belgian support for various measures which Qatar deems necessary in order to safeguard the populace and State.

From the Amiri Diwan [the Office of the Emir]:

At the beginning of the call, His Majesty inquired about the situation in the State of Qatar, expressing his country’s solidarity with the State of Qatar and its people in the face of the brutal Iranian aggression. He condemned the military actions that threaten the security and stability of the region, and affirmed the Kingdom of Belgium’s support for the State of Qatar in taking all necessary measures to preserve its security and stability, and its readiness to provide all necessary assistance in this regard.

The call also included a review of the most prominent regional and international developments of common interest. Both sides emphasised the importance of de-escalation and intensifying diplomatic efforts to resolve disputes peacefully, thereby enhancing regional security and stability.
