The King and Queen of the Belgians welcomed the Sultan of Oman on a two-day state visit to Belgium.
Their Majesties welcome Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said to Brussels on 3 December.
The Sultan was greeted by the King and Queen at the Palace Square before a ceremonial reception at the Royal Palace, which included His Majesty signing the Golden Book.
The Sultan attended a working lunch with King Philippe and Queen Mathilde at the City Hall of Brussels where the King and Sultan Haitham greeted the public from the balcony.

In the evening, a banquet was held at the Castle of Laeken in honour of Oman’s monarch.
King Philippe addressed his guest during the State Banquet and spoke of his fond memories of visiting Oman: “Queen Mathilde and I have unforgettable memories about our visits to Oman when we were welcomed by your late uncle, Sultan Qaboos. The history of your country is as vast and deep as the ocean. Oman is the link between East and West.”

He also told His Majesty how honoured Belgium was to welcome him: “It is in this spirit that I am honoured by your visit to Belgium and look forward to seeing our relations develop. Let us jointly develop other areas of mutual interest, including innovation, defence, space industry and observation, health, academic and cultural exchanges.”
The Sultan of Oman will visit Brussels, Antwerp and Waterloo during his visit.
